underwater ironing

Update: Underwater ironing
The record is now 86 scuba divers with ironing boards, simultaneously ironing linen items within a 10-minute period (besting the Guinness Book record of 72). UI is an offshoot of what started as Extreme (legitimate) Ironing, like on mountain peaks, with a real hot iron powered by a generator. Underwater, though, it's hard to get a crease. Extreme Ironing? Really? Not every activity needs to be EXTREME!!! 😕

My wife got EXTREME when I told her I wanted my skivvies ironed.

That could explain why I had to duck the flying iron!

It's always upsetting to learn of a record like this being broken. Mostly because it indicates there was a previous record, and that somene decided it was a worthy enough endeavor to record for posterity.

Besides, until they iron pants while doing a HALO jump, I won't consider this to be truly extreme.

I hope the husband doesn't see this! He will start wondering, if people are willing to go to extremes to iron, why then won't I iron in the living room.

I'm with you, kingmonkey -- not every "record" needs to be recorded. What a stupid way to spend one's time.

Wenthral, what game ya playing? And do you have co-op mode? I'm in!

Dead Space = ((Halo + Bioshock)/Resident Evil)-Intersting Storyline

The other game is probably Left For Dead which I heard was great. It has 4 player co-op BikerPuppy so you and three of your closest friends can all get together and have fun. 😉

Ooooh, sounds good. I'll have to pick that up (available for XBox?). I'm currently obsessed with Oblivion, but will need something new. Love Halo and Bioshock, so Dead Space sounds good, but the way I read DownCrisis's post, sounds like no good storyline (or am I just reading it wrong?). Bummer. Left 4 Dead is also on my list. I play Rock Band whenever friends come over. I never knew I had any talent on drums before this.... well, actually I still don't....

I guess I'm a little cynical about Dead Space for a few reasons.

The first is the obvious copying of Halo and Bioshock elements; the enemy remind me of the Flood, you have secondary functions with your left hand (time dialysis and telekinesis), darkly lit in most places, wrecked cat walks, need to buy upgrades at a specialized machine. At least in Bio you could get a discount if you could solve the puzzles.

The second is the limitation of ammo like Resident Evil. I know I'm about to bad mouth the Holy Grail of gaming for some but I always hated how little ammo was available. I'm a great believer in the single round theory, but when your opposition is as tough as a rhino wearing +10 plate maile of Ugnar the Unshaven, give a guy some gear please!! I'm not saying a want a mini gun ("If it bleeds we can kill it") cause there are some cool guns in the game, just a bit more on the pick ups. The cheats are also limited. I don't usually cheat my way through games, but reason three will explain it.

The third is a more personal one (like the others haven't been). I am playing this game so my wife can see it. She loves the whole horror genre, I'm glad she is enjoying it and I'm glad I can do this for her but if there some more cheats like ammo or credits I could get through more than a chapter or two a night. She's not watching it to see me get killed repeatedly in the same spot and I don't want that much frustration.

That's not to say there's not some cool stuff either: the visuals of the ship ae incredible, head shots are worthless, the grafitti cracks me up, the weaponry is neat, 0g maneuvering can be cool if not downright disorienting and trying to figure out what SciFi/Horror movie inspired the decor or creature is a lot of fun too.

I actually trained for this game with one of the Medal of Honor games. You're supposed to shoot the enemies limbs off in Dead Space. In Medal of Honor, I kept bringing my sights down about 10 degrees so I could see where I was running better. I was kneecapping all the enemies because of this. Afte about ten minutes of watching me play my friend finally said "Hey, the guy's name is Patterson, he's not from Patterson. Raise your sights!" Medal of Honor just was as interesting after that.

Wenthral, if you like throwing circular saw blades, have you tried Half Life 2? You can use your grav gun to through saw blades, and at least one level (Ravenholme) has a gazillion of them. The whole Half Life series is really well done.

DownCrisis, have you looked for God-mode type cheats online? I'm not a fan of using them normally, but occasionally when you can't get through a spot....
