exactly starthrower. kids are wanting for a firm hand more than anything else these days. if that was the 'spock generation' then the kids now are a product of 'call 911 if your parents dicipline you generation' sad.

I really have to agree with this. Honestly, I've gotten so fed up with that attitude from the young that I haven't spoken to anyone my own age in years.

I wish more parents had simply manned up and whacked their children when they needed it. Or, possibly, this can be attributed partially to a system where bath-time photos of your infant constitute child pornography. It's got to have SOME effect....

the tools of sucessful parenting have been criminalized. things that used to get you paddled or a detention in school are now dealt with by calling the cops and giving the kid a record. as a result, now having a criminal record doesn't have the same stigma attached as it once did. the kids don't care.
