Wim DeIvoye’s Cloaca

Belgian artist Wim DeIvoye has an installation he calls "Cloaca." Food goes in one end, gets processed in various ways, and comes out at the other end as poop — or something closely resembling poop. He's got various versions of this thing: the mini cloaca, personal cloaca, cloaca professional, etc. The version shown here is the "Cloaca New & Improved." It's been displayed at museums throughout Europe.

1) Just one more step on the road to a successful U.S. Robotics.

2) Most of what passes for "art" isn't so forthcoming.

Well, that's disgusting! The original Cloaca logo looks like the Ford logo.

Expat: regarding number 2 <chuckle> My thoughts exactly.
Have you been through an "art" museum lately? UGH!

Is it just me, or does that look like Mr. Clean on the wall?

@Todd: As a matter of fact, the wife drug me to one just yesterday. Half of the museum is devoted to artwork of ancient Greece. The other half, however, has an exhibit of Arte Povera by that world famous Greek artist Jannis Kounellis. The most "inspiring" work that we viewed was a large rock in an old wooded chair. The piece seemed to be unnamed but I felt that Rock-in-Chair fit rather nicely.

Other works were piles of personal items, like eye glasses, surrounded by bags of charcoal or coats hung from butcher's hooks all around a room, or several pairs of shoes aligned on a shelf. Monumental stuff! Had I known that photos were allowed I'd have his work posted here for all to view.

"Most of what passes for 'art' isn't so forthcoming."

Isn't something of this sort the first thought anyone would have? I know I did! Or mine was. Or it was for me. Whatev.

Expat not only got in there firstest but put it pithy. Now that's art!

jswolf19: I think he looks like Mr. Clean as well. In high school, we had a gym teacher who looked so much like Mr. Clean that we all referred to him by that name. Sure enough, he went on to play Mr. Clean in TV commercials. Thanks for the voyage down memory lane.

Possible marketing slogans: Fart imitating life? ... Imitation is the sincerest form of flatulence?

We've tried hiring people from SIYYpoZUZaXHqYgfVZ in the past but it just never worked out. Let us know if you ever move.
