Windows 10 approaching RTM

image

MS has released the latest build to us on the insider testing fast track (Build 10166). It is do for public release to market on July 29th. Those of us testing will get a free one use RTM PC copy.
While this is not weird news it is something we will all choose or not to upgrade to. So far this build is stable on my PC with no driver issues.
I am gonna wait though to upgrade my phone to Windows 10M. (M=Mobile)

So WUvians .. Who plans on upgrading ?

Not me, that's for sure. Everything I've seen of it indicates that it's designed solely for cellphones - since I never use one and it would be extremely inconvenient on my desktop, MS can keep it.

My plan is to wait til september or so and assess it then when all the early users have time to complain.

I will likely be updating next July (2016) after they figure out all the troubles (but while it's still a free upgrade).
Win 7 is stable and does all I need, Win 10 does not offer me anything new I need right now. So... Wait.

I'm going to image my Vaio, install W10, image that then let the wife play with it.

I may do the same with the PC as an image only takes 10 minutes.

Actually, I won't choose to upgrade or not, since I don't use Windows. You know, there are other operating systems out there.

Gasp & Horror!!! You speak sacrilege and treason to the almighty Gates.

Being conservative I'm sticking with 7 till the bitter end, I tried one of their new and better systems, Vista a few years ago and struggled with it forever. Besides, years ago I was technically challenged with the arrival of the electric typewriter. I'm pretty good with a EB-6 calculator from my flying days. Our house is split between the fruity computer and a widow. Never ending debate.

You do know that computers are just a passing fad...

FYI the free copy on release still requires that you have a validly-licenced Windows 7 or 8, and that free upgrade is available whether you take part in the pre-release testing or not.

Don't rush out and install the pre-release version just to get access to the full release version. 😊

I'm with FBS: I'll wait a couple of months to upgrade from 7, to see whether it's as stable as 7 or as buggy and wacky as Vista or 8.

@BD
I've been following this for a while and plan on upgrading automatically. Currently I have 12 independent computers at work to watch over with operators that were born well before computers became commonplace. some still believe that computers are just a passing fad. Primarily we're using 7 and 8 and as I go from one to the other, I have to reacquaint myself with the O/S in front of me, so I want us to all be on the same page. Unlike previous MS failures (Me and Vista), everything I hear about this build is good. If you can follow 7 and 8, 10 will work well for you. Even the lead tech at our ISP, who hates most things microsoft, is on board with it.

So, you're planning on playing Russian Roulette with two fully loaded 6-shooters. Personally? I'd drop all the 8s back to 7 and wait like FBS is planning on doing. I can image my SSD drive in about 10min so I'm going to take a peek with one hand on the 'Go Back Button'.

As far as I remember (starting with DOS 2.21) NOTHING coming out of MicroTrash has worked correctly until, at least, a couple of updates.
