World Record For Holding Cockroaches In Your Mouth

Watch Travis Fessler set the record by stuffing 11 cockroaches in his mouth. According to an article on Cincinnati CityBeat, he says doing this hurts because the roaches have sharp barbs on their legs, and they try to crawl down his throat. So I'm crossing this off my bucket list.

Why was this ON your bucket list in the first place???? *gag*

Hissing cockroaches are usually raised in 20-gallon Rubbermaid tubs with cardboard bedding. Although deeply gross, they typically carry fewer germs than silverware (not saying they carry silverware although they're pretty damn big, just that spoons and forks are more likely to be covered with germs--I just can't word that sentence right).

I hate to be a killjoy but the video is outdated. As a Cincinnati resident, I'm sadly aware that a bastard from Michigan took the record from Travis. (He or someone else might have beat the Michigan record but I'm too lazy to check.)

I felt guilty and googled the record. I couldn't get anything more recent than 2009 but a fellow named Sean Murphy stuffed 16 cockroaches in his mouth, beating Travis by five.

For some reason the measurement is in Madagascar hissing cockroaches which are larger than most roach species but much smaller than six-inch cave roaches.

Well, that was never on my bucket list, so maybe I'm not WU'vie enough. But, on the other hand, I don't have to waste any ink crossing it off. LOL

Those were serious cockroaches -- not those pissy little things people get in their kitchens. He could probably keep 40 of them in his mouth.
