More Things to Worry About

A photo spread shows why Brazil's Carnival makes Mardi Gras look like a small-town Shriner's parade. Boston.com

And speaking of excesses, the world's most-pierced woman wants you to know that she has added to her awesome inventory (n = 6,605), plus she's not all that happy about it but realizes that her title imposes on her a certain responsibility to reach for greatness. Daily Telegraph (London)

And speaking of awesome, an Aussie surfer's hand has been mostly reattached after a shark attack left it hanging by one small patch of skin (Bonus: They're using leeches to re-draw blood to the hand). Australian Broadcasting Corp. News

Aussie surfer's - Aw come on! If we're going to have a story about reattaching a mangled hand and using leeches there should be pictures!

Brazil's Carnival - are you going to defend your parade Maxx?

I saw some photos of those Brazilian dancers I'd like to give a hand to and maybe even pierce myself!

Nothing to defend Jules. In all honesty a can't stand Mardi Gras. Brazil does seem to have alot more room than N.O. though. We have narrow streets and tight turns for our floats to go down so that kind of limits there size. Also, despite what everyone thinks, we tend to have more family orientated parades. The tit flashing is done by the tourists who think that what you're supposed to do. The locals say, "pull your damn shirt down my kids are right here".

I'm glad the surfer gets to keep most of his hand, it could have been much more tragic. But hey, if he had been with the world's most-pierced woman when it happened, she could have whipped out some of her safety pins and stuck his hand right back on. A two-fer!

I'm with you patty, I get weirded out in big crowds.

Maxx, et al,

Last year the wife and I were in Mobile, AL on the night of the 1st parade. A small affair, like Maxx said, that was sponsored/organized by one area of town. The streets were lined 3 deep for the whole route and spirits were high. Kind'a reminded me of a homecoming parade where local pride ran rife. A life memory!
