Given fezzes to wear, and a supply of taffy to eat, the children in the audience were still at a loss for having to watch the sub-Krusty antics of Zovello the Magic Clown.

What was it with Turkish Taffy? American Taffy wasn't good enough for consumption? I also kept expecting a pitch for Chesterfield cigarettes.

Geesh, and the kids were trying to look\wave at the cameras and couldn't figure out which way to look\wave.

Man, that was grim. Good to be reminded that there was gawdawful TV in the old days as well. But it brought back the Bonomo's Turkish Taffy commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jpw64PkCJn8. That's a voyage down memory lane.
