Don’t Drink And Drive-Drive On Your Drink

Scottish scientists have come up with a way to use the waste from whisky making to create a new bio fuel. They even claim it is ready to be used without modifying car engines as required with ethanol and can be used as a higher percentage of blended fuel than ethanol as well. Wonder how long it will take to get across the pond.

Guys! Never wash your underwear again! Just wear it till it rots, and get new ones in the mail!

Oh The Horror!

" />
Zombie ants? Not quite, but the fungus discussed in the clip does take over the will (for lack of a better word) of the infected ants. To the point that the insects will hang from the bottom of a leaf till they die, at which point the fungus sprouts from their bodies. SHUDDER worthy pictures of fungus sprouting insects in the clip as well.

Highway Distraction

Four delightful sculptures adorn the South 24th Street Bridge in Council Bluffs, Iowa. So striking is the artwork that atleast one resident claims the distraction caused him to hit another vehicle. Another resident charmingly refered to the scultures as looking like Freddy Krueger's hands coming down to grab somebody. Some people just don't appriciate art.

Follies of the Mad Men #119

Mad Men, here's a secret: music is the realm of emotion and poetry and piercing observations, of romance and satire, of history and dreams.

So when you create a song that is full of boring statistics about a boring object, you look like an idiot, and so does your product.

The Girls of Murder City

I just read this book (pictured to the right, with link) which offers a rich and fascinating glimpse of a moment in Chicago when there were several female murderers simultaneously occupying the headlines and jails. This is always prime WU material in any era, and I don't believe you will be disappointed if you read this excitingly written historical account.

Why the video of an old song in this post? It's the tune that one of the murderesses played and danced to, over the corpse of her victim!

It Sucks To Be A Chinese Citizen

The Chinese have come up with a way to make people pay to sit on a park bench. A meter is attached to the bench as are short metal spikes. Drop your change and the spikes retract, time's up and the spikes deploy. They are not long or sharp enough to do harm, just enought to make sitting uncomfortable.

What Tree Did You Fall From?

I'm sure you've heard the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", which has something to do with how kids aren't so different from their parents. But does it matter what kind of tree you fall from? According to this chart that I found here, it does! This is a unique take on the usual "what's your sign?" perspective most people use to get to know others. So, what's your tree?

Circumcision Study

A study has shown circumcision is effective in slowing the transmission of HIV and STD's. In fact it is possible the procedure will become recommended for health concerns at some future point. Interesting isn't it?
