Follies of the Mad Men #178

My questions:

1) Did girls and women acquire those same Charles Atlas muscleman biceps shown on the box, or just boys and men?

2) Do they eat Pep on the International Space Station today?

3) Does anyone today still say, "He's got pep!" or "I feel peppy!"...?

And if you haven't had enough cereal trivia, please allow me to highly commend this new book, which is a lot of fun. My review will appear soon at THE BARNES & NOBLE REVIEW.

Jay Can Do It

As the YouTube commentator says--and I paraphrase--"What the hell was the point of this film?!?"

Let's look at Jay, the hero.

1) Likes to bake.

2) Can't use a hammer.

3) Owns a poodle.

4) Sets up housekeeping with a fellow male.

5) Admires a man in uniform.

6) "Jay is musical."

7) Carries a pocketbook-style basket.

It's an early gay-pride PSA!

Mother’s Day

image
Mother's Day is next Sunday, May 8th, and I'm sure we all have nice things planned for our Moms. But few of us will have as thoughtful and extravagant a gift in mind as Tamik Kirkland, pictured to the right.

Upon hearing that his Mom had been shot, Kirkland broke out of jail (with only ten months left to serve) and went on a violence-filled revenge spree, including bursting from concealment in a car trunk with gun blazing.

Read about it here.

Now that's filial devotion!

Read This Before You Get Married

I might have mentioned it before, but I'm planning on getting married this summer. To that end, I've been browsing the web, looking for stories about wedding related disasters, hoping to learn from the mistakes of others. Just this evening I found a bit of advice that had not occurred to me - think about what your new name will be, especially if you are considering whether or not to hyphenate. And here's why.

Children of Japan

Wow.
Worst. Timing. Ever.
Release a friendly documentary about Japanese kids in the same year as Pearl Harbor.
Wow.
