9/11/2001-9/11/2011

I do not want this to become about who did it or why they did. No arguments or alternate theories, they will be deleted summarily. What I wish to do here is to remember the innocent victims, the brave responders and the heroes who fought back to save people on the ground. Thousands of lives snuffed out cruelly and violently. During the days following this tragic event people all around the world lowered their flags and cried with us. United in grief and anger at the horror. That out pouring of support and love was the only good thing to come of the event. It is a shame we can not draw together that way in less tragic circumstances but that just does not happen. I was going to include some links here for remembrances of 9/11, but instead I will leave you all to remember, or not, in your own way. Finally, as an American who loves her country I thank everyone everywhere who stood with us that day. God bless you all and God bless America.

Not weird, I know. Perhaps not appropriate for WU, if Paul thinks so he can pull it and i will have no complaint. I just remember that day so vividly and am still, 10 years later, moved by it all. The very best and the very worst of humanity juxtaposed is stark relief. I needed to commemorate it publicly. I wanted to do that here with all my wonderful friends, because I think you all will understand the spirit in which I write it. Thanks guys, all my love-Patty

Slightly off our usual path, Patty, but an entirely understandable and laudable response to the anniversary, and appropriate enough to the site, so long as folks do not use the thread to preach or argue or denounce.

9/11 was about so many negative things, but I prefer to remember the positives like how many people, not just first responders, risked, and in some cases gave, their lives so others might live. What was meant to destroy America just brought us closer together as a nation. It showed the world what Americans are really like in a pinch. As to judgement, that is God's job and I am happy to leave it to him.
