Another Weird Meat Combo

A French fast food resturant is offering a touch of class for the holidays. Quick Burger has come out with the Supreme Foie Gras burger. The sandwich comes with duck foie gras, beef, relish and lettuce. Interesting.

The Daily Mail has a better a picture & a better description:

seriously, I'd never think that the Daily Mail would have better writers than the BBC, but they definitely do for this article.

Hot Doug actually went to jail to support the rights of Chicago Restaurants to sell Duck/Goose Liver. He also sells Rattlesnake & 'Gator Dogs, Anduille Sausage Dogs, Turducken Dogs, Thai Chicken Dogs, and one that I'll have to try next time I'm in Chicago:

Saucisson Alsacienne: Bacon Sausage with Creme Fraiche, Caramelized Onions and Baby Belletoile Cheese

I love a good braunschweiger as long as it also has bacon in it. Kahn's barvarian brand was the best but I can't find it anymore. Not even at our Walmart.

Hey patty ... one more thing we know Expat47 doesn't like. I added it to our list honey.

Well, if you've got some spicy mustard and fresh bread you could force me into a Braunschweiger sandwich or two. Boar's Head will do.

Today on travel channel Anthony Bourdain went to chicago and one of the people he interviewed was hot Doug (it was a repeat, don't know when it was filmed, they did talk about repealing the ban though).
Mr.Bourdain said the foie gras dog was great. and that rendered duck fat was prefect for frying just about anything! I agree!!

I belong to a group that attempted to pool money to buy the Gobbler. We haven't yet succeeded. :(

And I'll third Liverwurst, my personal fave is spreading it on Pumpernickel with Brick Cheese and a spicy Brown or Deli Mustard.

Oh, and here's an idea I just found: pan sear thin slices of Duck Liver in their own fat while you toast 2 pieces of larger French Bread, then spread some Goat Cheese & a schmear of Raspberry Jam on one piece and put the Foie Gras on the other piece for a Foie Gras Sammich!
