brighton annoying

Brighton, Mich.: land of opportunity
The City Council just passed an ordinance making it illegal to be annoying in public, "by word of mouth, sign, or motions." Unfortunately, violators can't be jailed but only ticketed and fined. Of course, such a law is way-unconstitutional, but courts are busy, and it'll take a while before challenges get there. Could be they're just making a play to become America's Vacation Paradise. So who defines what's annoying and what isn't?

Kingmonkey: That was going to be my question too.
Do you and I see annoying in the same way? What about the lady who lives under me?

What happens if someone decides the cops writing the tickets to annoying people is annoying? Do they write themselves a ticket?

In order to determine what an annoyance is, we must first determine which actions a favorable and correct within the scope of the law. Then we must determine what an annoyance is and if the annoyances are personal or against the community at large. These questions should have presented themselves to the lawmakers prior to passing such an ordinance which is completely un-enforceable.

Lawmakers who infringe upon people's 1st Amendment rights are annoying. So is the lady who lives under AGFH! 😉
