Call Any Vegetable

I just relistened to Frank Zappa's 1971 album, Live at the Fillmore East, or, Freaks & Motherfu*#@%! for the first time in about 40 years, and marveled again at the visionary talents of this supreme musical weirdo. Of course, Zappa died too young at age 52, and we were deprived of many potential years of his music.

I thought this vegetable song might somewhat counterbalance all the bacon and meat talk on WU.

Paul, the best thing to balance bacon with is a rare burger on a sesame seed bun with some brazed onions and a pickle.

My home away from home.

I live in the land of the Hippy out here in Oregon, and a local favorite is the Gardenburger with bacon and cheese.

I've preferred the Flo & Eddie version of this composition myself.

Who knew that one could yodel the word "rutabaga" and make it sound so melodic?

Very strange that's for sure. Miles, what do they call that sandwich, the vegan whore? Paul, darling, you are perfect just the way you are! 💋

Hitched, with a real Zappa groupie, to Chicago, to see 200 Motels in its first run; she certainly enhanced an already mind-blowing experience. Honored to have seen FZ live several times, first time as our college homecoming band (really), last time in Chicago with his guest, Sting. An inspiration in so many ways. I miss Frank. Thanks for posting the cut, Paul.

Thanks for the voyage back, Paul. Took me back to a decaying garrett bedroom listening to the 200 Motels album aided by the very comestibles of which FZ so heartily disapproved.
