Canned Cocktails

Despite a long history--this ad dates from 1972--canned mixed drinks have never caught on. Perhaps something to do with inferior taste?

And yet manufacturers continue to try--as seen here.

Good booze should only be mixed with friends.

My liquor store sells these, but like Carlo Rossi jug wines, it's really only people over 60 that buy them. The only one I ever had was a Manhattan. It was disgusting, but that may be because it was a Manhattan.

Actually I think the canned cocktails just evolved into the Loco, Smirinoff Black, Tilt and other canned alcoholic mixed beverages, which seem to be popular with people in their early 20s and late teens (Yikes!)

I think they still have a market also at clubs and pool parties where glass bottles aren't allowed, as an alternative to canned beer.

I work in the beverage can industry. There are currently a couple of cases of the modern version of these beverages in our laboratory for exterior surface testing.

Interesting with the Jimador cocktail, It says "Paloma" on the label. I don't know about Mexico but in El Salvador Paloma refers to a mans er..erect manhood!

Not popular?
In Australia they were trying to introduce a special tax on them(above other alcohols) to STOP them being so popular.
