I'll pass too. But, there are a lot of "delicacies" in this world I plan on passing on.

'Thither' and 'odoriferous' on the same line pretty much dated this piece even before I read the date.

I once worked with a Phillipine national who brought a balut to lunch one day. The odor was enough to put me off my food and aroused my curiosity to ask what he was eating. I immediately wished I hadn't asked.

Interesting read. Kane was a keen if jaundiced observer. This must be the Paul Kane who was most famous Canadian painter of First Nations people. I had no idea who was also a chronicler of their culture.
