D Troop

There is another scouting group besides the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America, it is the Dog Scouts of America. They have troops across the country, badges to earn and even cookies to sell. I wonder what their salute looks like.

That picture makes me smile. That has to be the happiest dog I have ever seen. 😊

As a die hard member of P.H.A.R.T. I can only applaud the actions of these people in recognizing that dogs are people too.

I'd ad more buy my people needs to go water the trees and fertilize the weeds.

Hay now! My Hairy just solved an quadratic equation to get a cookie!

The quadraped can solve quadratics?!

A natural conclusion but it's the raging desire for a cookie that spurs him to greater heights.

gee, somebody pass redstripe11 some alprazolam!
Posted by Patty in Ohio, USA on 04/04/12 at 02:04 PM
No, just shoot him in the head for the greater good.

The salute is simple: raise your paw... NO! Not that paw! Bad boy!

Haters gonna hate. Of course if someone told redstripe he shouldn't do something because it's stupid I'd bet he'd be all up about freedom.

Redstripe11 should go read the organization's webpage, no dressing up of dogs there unless you count kerchief wearing as dressing up your dog. Saddlebags/backpacks do not count and that's the only other thing they were wearing. Pile of Pooh needs to take a look too. I read through a bit and its really just a group trying to stress good citizenship for canines and owners. If there was a troop near me, I'd join. I read the requirements for the first badge and they are slightly relaxed requirements for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen certificate plus a few extra requirements for the owner, that stress cleaning up after your dog. The badges are just rewards for specialized training and/or fun stuff for the dogs like dock diving, etc.

As long as they don't force their owners to sell boxes of Milk Bones to all their coworkers, it's fine with me.
