federal guards

Can't possibly be true: A federal prison guard who survived two tours in Iraq was murdered in his first job back because federal prison guards can't carry weapons
Federal policy for guards is to make friends and gain trust, which means not even pepper spray or batons are allowed, and in fact, not even protective vests. Prisoners, of course, are armed to the teeth with homemade stuff, and apparently two of them shanked this defenseless guard. The federal Bureau of Prisons said, Umm, well, gee, we might perhaps, possibly, conceivably, think about amending our policy, maybe. CNN

Ah... yes... just another case where some poor souls have become victims of a society that allowed them to slip through the cracks and allowed them to kill this oppressor of the unfortunate.

Now I guess tax payers will have to foot a multimillion dollar defense (and prosecution) of these clowns so we they can cost an additional $80,000+ per year for the rest of their natural lives to keep them locked up!

Not even protective vests? I mean, I'm a pacifist by nature, but even I realize this is just stupid. You put a guy in charge of guarding people who almost necessarily want to harm him, you'd better give the guy some means of protecting himself.
