Follies of the Mad Men #183

I ripped this ad out of a Reader's Digest a long time ago, so I don't have the exact issue attribution. Other sources on the web claim 1960.

In any case, this is a fine example of the category of subliminal ad known technically as "You can put the liquid from your long thick bottle into my melting ice cream anytime, honey!"

Here's a fascinating version for what was then perceived as a different market.

No products is more natural for this treatment than 7-Up, the drink with the 7 in front and u-p after.

You're kidding, right? The only subliminal message in this ad is that boys are being trained from the get-go to expect women to play waitress and cook and serve food to them for the rest of their lives.

No need to trust those sources that date it from 1960. Just look at the copyright notice under the picture.

I can't believe that the person who posted the black version didn't realize that it must have some from a black magazine.

Well, I can only hope that they either shot the white dudes first or got new shirts for the other shoot. 😜 (Just getting into the 1960's theme.)
