Follies of the Mad Men #43

This appears to be an ad for a brand of French chewing gum. I'm not sure if the notion of a pair of used panties from the Statue of Liberty is adequate enticement to chew the company's product.

Damn! Her panties were hard. Maybe she should try to wash them every once in a while.

Are the french implying that we would give up our liberty for a good piece of chewing gum?

The commercial would have been funny if some people would have run up to sniff her panties.

I wonder if the french intended for her panties to have a cute little bow on them when they made the statue to begin with.

Ya know, I think a lot of this commercial was digitally enhanced! I don't think a metal statue would be able to swim.

I always assumed Lady Liberty wasn't wearing underwear. Further, I alwasy assumed she was really a man; let's face it, her face is quite masculine.

I don't think they are implying we would give up our liberty, just that women will give up their panties for a good piece of gum

Bill, I've got a whole pack of Big Red. Do you think that'll work?

I'm kind of wondering why Lady Liberty went from her island way out in the harbor and into the city (and remained dry!) before stripping down and then deciding to swim. Wouldn't it have been a little more appropriate for her to, oh, I don't know, immediately jump in the water from her island and then swim?

Tah- I guess the French've forgotten where they left the Lady after giving her to us
