Gastric Band Fails

A British TV special about failed gastric band surgeries that will air soon tells of some horrible ill effects people have suffered. One woman's band slipped causing part of her stomach to die. In addition to that fungus was growing on the band causing her to have a septic infection. As a result of the infection her stomach exploded. Wow, she really got her 8000 British pounds worth!

Pretty awful, makes you rethink the idea if you are considering it.

Rather a bit of a muck-up, what? what?

Mind you, it is a Daily Hate article about a Channel IQ-of-5 documentary. I'd take its more spectacular claims cum sacco salis.

I feel sorry for her, but any surgery can have complications. I note that only she, and not any medical professional, used the word "exploded." Also, the article misdefines gastric bypass surgery; as no portion of the stomach is removed in that procedure. That would be a gastrectomy, which is never used nowadays for weight loss.
