Gun Silencer Bacon Cooker

I've heard about using a car engine to cook breakfast (in fact, that idea is immortalized in Rick Altergott's great artwork for WU -- see the side column), but this is the first time I've seen a gun used for the same purpose.

It's amazing how much heat is generated by an operating firearm. The largest portable (well, relatively portable) machine guns had two barrels supplied in the shipping boxes. The barrels were to be changed during sustained fire sessions to let a barrel cool down while the replacement was in use. An asbestos fabric glove was supplied to prevent burns.

I know firing my M16 and AK-47 on full auto with 100 round mags/drums make the barrel start glowing almost. I think Will fired over 200 in an episode of "Sons of Guns" and the barrel went from orange to almost red.

A bit slow and clumsy plus expensive considering the cost of ammo these days. But if you have a fixation with firearms and lots of money why not. Overheating your rifle barrel has a tendency to ruin it also.
Long gone are the days of 20 round boxes of surplus military 30-06 ammo at $2.50 a box.

Does anyone else remember the Ager Machine Gun? (I mean: 'remember' from history lessons, not personal experience!) It was a ball-and-black-powder hand-cranked gun (precursor to the Gatling gun). At something like 100 rounds per minute, molten steel as well as lead was coming out of the barrel.

If money is not a problem; with a water cooled machine gun, your buddy might be able to boil some eggs. The water jacket would need major modification.

Yeah we had machine gun cooked bacon before. So you won't starve while out shooting. So long as you bring bacon!
