I knew that these machines weren't anything new. Some thirty five years ago I came across a vending machine in the lobby of a hostel while in Europe. The machine offered cigarettes, which was no surprise, but also offered cans of beer, which you never see in the USA. Talk about culture shock.

That reminded me, KDP, about my hotel on Eleuthera (an island in the Bahamas). It had a soft drink machine that vended only beer. Culture shock is a good description – along with a feeling of gratitude.
