Kind'a interesting as at the 39sec mark a reference is made to a nuclear aircraft carrier is made. The Enterprise CVN-65 was ordered in 1957 built in '61 and commissioned in '62.

The only problem I could see was that not all the kids wore head gear. As long as their brains are protected boxing is a decent sport.

Adults should know better.

When I was a kid, another kid in a leg brace wanted to box with me, which looked like a great opportunity. My dad dragged me out of there because he didn't want me beating up on the poor kid -- thank God, because I didn't have the sense to do the right thing. I was mad at him at the time, but as usual, he was right.

I knew some boxers, and they were incredibly tough, but the sport was so brutal that the toll it took on them and their families was incredible. The use of heavy drugs seems unavoidable.

But even with head gear, I worry about brain damage. Helmets didn't save many of those football players who developed severe neurological conditions and dementia early on after their careers were over. Brains just aren't designed to be smashed around in people's skulls. I've had my bell rung a few times in various contact sports; maybe that's why you'll find me frequenting sites like this.

A high school classmate of mine was into boxing. He died at age 20 from a blood clot to the brain.
