Let’s Meet Here

How would you like to be the only house on the block that a migrating flock of birds takes a rest on? A couple in the UK awoke to 500 house martins all over their four story residence Tuesday morning. Theirs was the only place the birds landed, other homes were not visited by the little birds. The large flock seem to be migrating early due to the recent cold snap. Good traveling little friends, hope the people know a good window washer.

@#$r$@ a bunch of "pidgies"! One of the dirtiest, disease ridden, city dwelling avian menaces the world has ever produced!

Now, house martins eat an amazing amount of bugs per day! We could have use a squadron of them on the island.

@Expat

That is why pigeons are called "winged rats".

As to martins, the Purple Martin will nest communally if an appropriate Martin Hotel is provided. And they are one of the best birds at keeping the mosquito population low.

Gulls are "Rats with wings" around here. They, too, are a menace to society!

People don't feed the pigeons, the pigeons feed the people. WORKS FOR ME!!!

I am NOT gonna watch the link! I know they make a mess, but they are pretty. Rats are ugly as are bats. Every time I see gulls (see gulls hee hee) I think of the kids movie, can't remember the name, where the gulls go after everything all yelling :mine mine mine" funny.

@patty

I have not looked at sea gulls the same way since I read the book "Jonathon Livingston Seagull". It is a very inspiring book. If you haven't already read it I highly recommend it to you.

Also, squab is just another name for pigeon to a chef. And they are tasty.

LOL!!!!! Now THAT reminds me of a neighbor of ours years ago. He used to shoot pigeons around his house with a high power BB gun. Not nice.
