mendocino dope

One industry flourishing in California: home-grown dope
In Mendocino County, north of San Francisco, they say marijuana farming may account for two-thirds of the local economy. Though it's still against federal law, the state says it's OK as long as you can plausibly claim it's for medicinal sales. Another boost for sales is because border security has been stepped up, keeping out a lot of Mexican grass. Said a DEA agent operating in Mendocino (who seems to have fallen to Stockholm Syndrome), "Nobody produces any better marijuana than we do right here." (Economics: costs $400 to grow a pound of dope, which eventually fetches $6k on the street) MSNBC

And just think! MJ used to be the source of so much hemp which is so useful in so many ways.

That does it, I'm moving to Cali - who's wants in?

Expat - Hemp has thousands of uses and is actually much more 'green' than alot of the resources we use today. BTW - Hemp and marijuana are actually 2 different plants. Hemp does not contain THC.

With all that said, I'll bring the oreos Jules!

Hemp and marijuana maybe two different plants but they'll both get you thrown into the Kafka-esque world that is our country's 'War on Drugs.'

I won't argue with that StanFlouride.

Wasn't the American Constitution written on hemp paper? Or was the Declaration of Independence?

I hate tobacco, don't want anything to do with it, can't get far enough away from it - THC on the other hand, I do very much enjoy sparking that up. It's a very rare occasion that I do (maybe twice a year) but I make the most of it when I can. 😉
Drinking and smoking together is a balancing act, a little of both is a lot of fun - but a lot of either one means when I add the other I feel sick.
Patty - It's all about getting used to what works for you 😊

I've been at it for over 20 years and I still don't mix drinking and smoking. The combo will get me sick for sure.

DEA man is correct, mendo is some of the finest(outdoor, anyway). give it a few years and weed will be decriminalized across the usa. It's almost complete in MA, in process here in CT and many other states.

keep at it patty! most people don't get high the first couple of times...

When I first stared smoking it didn't have any effect on me. However since there's really nothing else to do in Western Massachusetts I did it often enough in college to overcome that. 😊

no better place to burn than the berkshires jules...i'll be there tomorrow.

At least MA has Boston, all we have in CT is Hartford and New Haven which are comparetively super lame. Those is the southern part of the state can get to New York City quickly enough, but for those of us in the northern part of the state the options are minimal.
However, compared to the rest of the country, we don't have killer weather, bugs, or reptiles so I think the compromise is fair.

there are a few of us from CT on WU sogg.(jules included)I read the same article today. I was under the impression it was a done deal in MA, but apparently it has to pass some other bureaucratic B.S. which everyone expects it will. Surely CT will decriminalize in the next year or two...

and jules, some of the best indoor growers I know are down in New Haven! unfortunately I've been out of the scene for awhile and have to cop my nugs here and there from the old-school guys. always a struggle. (I'll go without before compromising on schwag)

there is a ridiculous percentage of law enforcement and legislators (i won't quote numbers because the freaks all jump your ass if they perceive your to be incorrect) who all agree weed should be legal.

if the cops say smoke up, what the hell are we waiting for???

and while we're on the subject, take an interest (and hopefully support) the Amethyst Initiative, a movement started and supported by a large number of college administrators to reduce the drinking age back to 18. This will of course reduce binge drinking and irresponsible behavior. All of Europe can't be wrong.
My children will be allowed beer and wine as soon as they are old enough to ask for it, I'm not going to have my kids go off to college and risk their lives playing catch up.

400 to grow... 6k on the street? Where the hell do they get these numbers from? Maybe 50 to grow and 1200, unless your selling it by the gram. These guys are selling bulk which prolly means more around 6-800/pound
Posted by One of them guys on 01/27/09 at 05:13 AM
one...guys, these numbers are very accurate. A mountain pound (454g), which is what you would get in mendo would wholesale from the grower at approx. 6k. 'On the street' most dealers could sell quarter pounds anywhere from $1600-2000. And ounces can retail in the cities (NYC for example) as high as $600.

some wholesalers attempt to sell pounds at 448 grams, because when you break it down, 112g/qtr.lb, 28g/oz., 7g/qtr.oz.

DON'T GET RIPPED OFF!!!!

(p.s. if anyone finds Mendo bud for $800/lb. let me know, I'll get us both rich quick)
