At the 1964 New York World’s Fair, American Express displayed a “money tree.” Its foliage consisted of a million dollars in currency and travelers' cheques from countries around the world.

So that's what one looks like! My daddy always used to tell us that he would go out in the back yard and pick some money off the money tree when the kids would ask him for some trinket or gewgaw that we just had to have, or our lives would end.
