" />Technology developed for military use is being adapted to control jail inmates. The clip shows a test of the device on jail personnel. The idea is to use it to break up fights. Good plan if it doesn't caused permanent damage, and the laughter of the test subjects indicate that it does not.

Must be a secret weapon. The video is being denied to me. I did follow Google "image pain beam" and found some demos.

Weapons and deterrents of this kind are still far away from being practical. Just like the military who've done this kind of research/thing and found it's just not yet maneuverable, deployable, small, and effective enough using sound or energy type beams.
I think the threat of putting them in alone in the shower with "Big Bubba" would work much better.
