Name That List, #39

What is this a list of? The answer is below in extended.

  • A jar of dirt from the grave of Patrick Edward Madden
  • A plastic menorah
  • A Charlie Chaplin doll
  • Endless reams of printed receipts
  • News clippings
  • Restaurant menus
  • A plentiful variety of urine, captured and wax-sealed in bottles
  • A roll of scotch tape
  • A small bottle of K-Y lubricant
  • An orange prescription bottle for the anti-inflammatory drug Meloxicam
  • Garbage culled from the roadside
  • Matchbooks advertising A La Lucie
  • A National Geographic Society map of the Holy Land
  • A copy of the guide book "Sexy New York"
  • Horse manure preserved in candy jars

Answer:

All the items are part of "The Archive" of Kentucky artist Louis Zoellar Bickett. For about 40 years, Bickett has been obsessively preserving and archiving all the random detritus of his life, no matter how trivial any of it is. He tags it all, recording the date it was part of his life and what role it played. He also indexes it all in a database. Recently parts of Bickett's archive have been put on display. Though it's so vast that no more than 5% of it can be shown at a time.

It was all my stuff until he moved out, the bastard.
I think "Endless reams of printed receipts" would be a great name for a rock and roll band.
Then again, I never purchased that Sexy New York book - it was a gift. Honest.

"Uncle Lou, can I have another piece of horse manure gum, please?"

There is a fine line between genius and insanity.
There is a fine line between artist and hoarder.
