Should Have Made ‘David’ Too

A New Jersey family was asked, by police, to cover the snow sculpture of the Venus de Milo they built last week. The request was made due to an anonymous complaint about 'a naked snow woman'. No worries now for the puritanical complainer, Venus was taken down Monday because she was melting. Wonder what they'll build next snow storm, my suggestion is in the title.

Good god. What prudes. Reminds me of this 'salvage store' that was in operation last year across the river in Kentucky. I never understood buying salvaged milk, eggs or bread, but that's another topic. I went in to check it out, and found they also had a small amount of flea market-like goods. Among them was a statue of David, about four foot tall. The owner, an older lady, had strategically placed a post-it note on him, and strapped it down with numerous layers of shipping tape.
I really wanted to tell her I was interested in buying the statue, but wanted to see him in the nude so I could make sure he wasn't damaged. I thought about it, and went back to maybe do that, but the store had closed up.

If I was the owner, I totally would've found some very tasteless, provacative lingerie to outfit her with. We actually have a head shop/adult toy/porno shop here in town, they have windows with mannequins decked out in such attire. Parents actually threw fits for months at the town council demanding the displays be removed, because their children drove past it on the bus at 55mph.
This also reminds me of the elaborate snow sculptures Calvin (of Calvin & Hobbes) was fond of creating. I always wanted to be able to make snow art like him when I was a kid, but found Bill Watterson was much better at creating them with pen and ink than I was with actual snow.

you know they could have just spray painted a bikini on her. i'm sure that would have pissed off the complainer too.

The thing that gets me is the "anonymous complainant". What's happening to the right of facing your accuser?

This violates the values of the community, yet the local paper can print the nekkid pics for everyone to see. Hope the local schools that use newspapers for education rejected delivery of that edition!

I'm actually impressed at how nice the sculpture is. They obviously put some time into it. The complainer is from the same body of folks who flipped out when Janet bared a tit for a nanosecond during the superbowl.

Next they'll be covering the Spirit of Justice statue because she's bare chested... Oh, wait, never mind.
