Singing Sands

The mystery of singing sand dunes has been explained. None the less it is a fascinating phenomenon to hear.

I had never heard of this before. It is mournful and beautiful in its own way. Has anyone here ever heard it in person anywhere?

Think of the things that we miss living in noisy areas. I notice that the sites are way away from anywhere.

The site can not deal with a percent sign+20 I guess without messing it up.

Thanks for the cleanup Patty 💋

Sorry AT&T is throttling your connection. Now we know why you get no HD Netflix ... 0.6 MBps download speed .. the side they control. Not to mention the email warning letter you read me.

oops ... upload side I meant

I sent you options on providers .. hope you find a better one.
It really sucks that some are doing this and especially those who do TV.
They don't want you using Netflix etc and not buying THEIR feed.

As far as I know only Verizon and Frontier still really honor "unlimited" plans on home internet connections. Anyone else wanna chime in ?

Comcast does 250 gigs worth before they send a warning letter. They may charge for it if you consistently go over the 250 gigs of download, and, although my fiance and I don't use cable tv, or netflix, we do a lot of youtube and downloading, and never get anywhere near the limit, between the two of us.

The US is really getting raked over the coals for internet costs, speeds, and usage. The Scandinavian countries are giving T1 away for a pittance and down here I'm getting unlimited with a 15k connection with unlimited phone (26 countries long distance) for about $32 a month.

They are, however, getting some of it back on the satellite TV.

I found an option with ATT that gives me 250 gigs (after I threw a fit )
it is the uverse thing so we are gonna try it, supposed to be the same cost so we shall see. I was mad because they throttled my service without telling me and when I called in they were going to send a tech out with a new $90 router to 'fix' the problem. Then I got the BS email about going over plan limits I did not even know we had. So one hand does not know what the other is doing over there. But they are waving the $100 install fee for the new service. So it is resolved fairly well for now. Thought I'd update whoever cares since BD brought it up. 😊

Wow Expat wish I could get that deal! Also, believe me, I will let ya'll know if they screw me on this new service. I sure hope not, The reduction in service cost me 2 computer that died. Uverse better be what they said it is!

I found http://www.speedtest.net/
I have not yet explored it to see what they are selling. My download speed is 5.56 Mbps and .54 upload. I am on a government owned ISP with no limit. I would like if a couple of you would try the speed test and share and compare?

Tonight I'm getting 13.32Mpx Down and 0.86Mpx Up. This is a bit slower than usual as I usually get about 15.5Mpx down and 1Mpx up.

19.98 MBps down/ 21.24 MBps up ... I love fiber (FIOS)
Posted by BrokeDad in Midwest US on 11/03/12 at 12:22 PM
Seriously BD? That's all you're getting out of fiber optics? I'm pulling my 15.5 through 55yo. lead wires for part of the trip!

I can not load chat now, they are really messing my internet up. I will not be free of this crap till the new billing cycle starts on the 9th. Then I am getting Uverse on the 13th which is supposed to be 12 all the time. I tried to take the speed test a little bit ago and the test would not even run.

I should have mentioned that I get my internet over the same telephone wires that I used with a dial up modem 1n the last century.
