Snail Porridge

According to Heston Blumenthal, "snail and porridge might sound like a bit of a bizarre combination, but it's totally delicious to eat." I'll take his word for it, but this is one dish I'm not going to try. To make the dish, it sounds like you mix snails and porridge together. Then you add in a whole bunch of other stuff to hide the taste of the snails.

I've had snails in the shell (escargot) and snails in hot sauce (Cretan) and am not a big fan of either.

I have, though, been attempting to teach the snails in our garden (yard - weed patch) how to fly! So far, no luck!

Funny snail pictures:

I try not to direct link pics but if I do use sites that are very common like Wikipedia that expect large bandwidth usage.

I do like escargot, mainly because (like this recipe) it's mostly an excuse to eat lots of seasoned butter. As near as I can tell this recipe is about 2/3 butter with some other stuff tossed in to make it a recipe.

Sometimes I think that there sould be a category called "food?" I'm not quite sure that this snail porridge falls under what most of us would consider "food."
