For non-boomers: Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey, MD were popular doctor shows back in the day.

Dr. Kildare was certainly essential viewing in our UK household, when I was a quite a bit younger! I think my mother had a thing about Richard Chamberlain's bedside manner. Monochrome TV for us at the time but, as it was an American production, was it originally filmed in colour for the American market?

There's a trailer for a release of the complete series on imdb.com. Judging from that, some episodes were monochrome and some were color.
