@ges I don't think it was earlier, but the Guardian San Seriffe one is deservedly famous.

As for the haggis, I've et one, and and was pretty decent. Not something you'd eat every week, but not bad at all every now and then.

I wasn't aware of the Guardian San Serriffe supplement, but I see it was 20 years after the BBC spaghetti April Fool (1977 vs. 1957). I see the Museum of Hoaxes has a list of the top April Fools of all time. The BBC spaghetti piece is #1, and San Serriffe is #5. https://hoaxes.org/aprilfool/
