“THE END” is not so near.

According to new findings our world is not about to end in 224 days but rather in 584,612 days. It seems that some older Mayans had a longer view of things and created a calendar that stretches another 1,600 years.

The Associated Press has the full story and a video of the archaeologist bearing this disturbing news.

I'll tell you what happened:

The Mayan calendar makers were working along on their blackboards, got up to 2012 A.D and decided to take a break and have a spot of tea. Then the Spaniards came along and killed off the Mayans. The blackboard work was forgotten in all the confusion.

I'm relieved to have heard this before I went out to run up all my credit accounts, go on a whirlwind tour of the world and buy a fleet of Ferraris.

Well, yea, but in this case the "Golden Dawn" party are uber-right-wing nationalists standing on a platform of ridding the country of the immigrant problem. They would have fared better had they not chosen the inside-out swastika as their embalm and acted like storm troopers.

Nitpick: That picture is an Aztec calendar, not a Mayan calendar.

I'd change it out but in only 584,611 days it won't make any difference.

Does a golden dawn precede golden showers?
