What kind of traps were used to make the above Christmas tree? Care to guess?

Many thanks to Danny53 for the link. Lobster fishing communities are in a competition of sorts for the largest Christmas tree made of lobster traps. The activity is also a charity fundraiser. Fun and helpful, what could be better.
