Where’s my car?

Sometimes, after shopping at the local mall, I forget exactly where I parked my car in the mall parking lot. But that's nothing compared to Andreas O. who, after partying at Munich's Oktoberfest, could only remember that he had parked his car somewhere in East Munich before getting a tram down to the Oktoberfest grounds. It took him five weeks to get the car back — and only then because he hung posters around the city appealing for help and someone spotted it. Munich police say, "We get this sort of thing all the time." [thelocal.de]

Really? A bit too much drinking goes on there then. Although, years ago, after an accident we had a rental while the car was being repaired. We went to the mall and when we came out we could not find the vehicle. After looking around for a bit we realized it had actually been stolen while we were shopping. The kids were little and I lost a car seat and booster seat and the diaper bag that was left in the car. They found the rental up in Cleveland completely stripped. So glad we took the extra insurance!! Bonus: mother-in-law, hubby, our 2 yr old, 3 month old, me and the stroller all rode home in the back seat of a police car. When the neighbor tried to pick up the stroller and take it to the porch for us our 2 yr old son freaked and yelled, 'No!Mine!"

Way back when I had just graduated college a girlfriend and I flew to San Diego for a long weekend. I had rented a Camaro - it was white. We went to Disneyland for the day. As we approached the ticket booth I turned to her and asked, if she remembered where we had parked. She hadn't.
My reply was "screw it", we'll worry about it when we leave. We enjoyed the day and although it took a while, we did have a pretty good idea where we had left it.

I had a EE friend in college who decided for his senior project to build a "car finder". It was not a bad idea, but the execution was a bit off. The user was needed to catty a 6foot cross shaped antenna and it was only good for about 50yds.
On the plus side the antenna could be used for self defense or a walking staff while one circled the area trying to get within range.

Almost as bad were the two Americans who went to Berlin for the World Cup and as they left the car duly wrote down the street name where they parked.
Upon leaving the event they hailed a cab and kindly asked the driver to take them to Einbahnstrasse.

"I came for the rides."

A likely excuse. The embarrassment of losing something as large as a car must hang heavy on him. Losing car keys is one thing, but the whole car?

I once parked my car in my neighbors yard after a party night when I was 17. At least I got close enough eh ?? 😝

I bet the neighbors and the parents were just thrilled with that!

The last time we went to Orlando I took a photo of the marker where we parked. Now-a-days with smart phones, etc. you could even use GPS.

Now, the wife??? I've got to pry her off any handy 2 wheeler that is parked anywhere near where we left our scoot! Color, size, make, model, makes no difference she's blind as a bat where my ride is concerned.

Patty: "A bit too much drinking"? It's the Oktoberfest, what do you expect... too much drinking is most of the point. That, and silly clothes.
