Kinda-suprisingly, only 66 percent of evangelical Christians believe that, but on the other hand, 20 percent of atheists believe it. [Ed.: Those numbers seem high, but they're surely not as high as the number who have convinced themselves that some amorphous, devilish force is screwing them over]. USA Today

Twenty percent of atheists believe they are protected by angels...I think I had a mini-stroke trying to process that one.

I've been touched by an angel. Actually, he pronounced it An-hel...

Members of almost every major religious group sensed angels running heavenly interference: evangelical Protestant, 66%; black Protestant, 81%; mainline Protestant, 55%; Catholic, 57%; Jewish, 10%; other religions, 49%; no religion, 20%.
'No religion' is not atheism, it's agnostic.

I got touched by a guy named Angel, once. Is that the same thing?

Kingmonkey- It depends on where he touched you.

No religion could be either agnostic or athiest. By definition, no athiest would claim to be protected by angels.

Not an amorphous, devilish force screwing me over, just the Republican Party.

This thread is the typical horse manure from a demonically possessed atheist (Chuck). It was posted on this blog because one of satan's main purposes is to fool people into believing the NON-existence of himself, angels (good and bad), and God. In fact, they DO exist, as Chuck [shudder] will find out when he dies.

I don't believe in AnUnSi. If you want to find some interesting comments then search for AnUnSi in the main page search window. I'm starting to think it's an editors alter ego/split personality or perhaps some sort of demonic possession.

Hmmm, let's see: Chuck is An, Alex is Un, Paul is Si. An for "an excellent fellow." Un for "the UnCola." And Si for "Si, senor!'
Or something like that....

Ok, so AnUnSi, as far as I can tell, with the aid of Google, has been posting in blogs since 2006. Comments are always fire and brimstone never very far off that topic. I believe the AnUnSi sightings we have here are authentic since those speech patterns and chains of logic are hard to impersonate. I find it strange that the AnUnSi has wandered into this sanctuary of the weird but perhaps it if for good reason. The AnUnSi itself appears to a salient member of the weird community. AnUnSi, I personally welcome your enigmatic presence with open arms and some incense I bought at the gas station. SHAMALAMAMAMA HAAAAAAAAA SHAMALAMA HAMA LAAAAAAAAAA.....
So I retract my suspicion that this person is an editor since that would involve really elaborate and pointless scheming.

Then there was the TV show about the massage therapist from Minneapolis who went to work on a poor neighborhood in East L.A.: "Touched by an Anglo."

I have been.
When I was a baby my parents woke at 3AM and rushed to my crib side where I was blue. Two parents just dont wake up out of REM sleep at the same time to check on a baby to find him blue at 3 AM.
I could have been killed or murdered several times but I escaped. I am greatful for it.

No. Atheism is a lack of belief in gods, not angels. It is quite possible to be a superstitious atheist, or one who believes in ghosts, karma, crystal healing, homoeopathy, reincarnation or all sorts of supernatural tosh.

Is it ironic that a person trying to bring the word of God uses a name which is virtually homophonous with African mythology? Or is that a coincidence? I sometimes can't tell the difference.
