False Alarm

Residents of a Brockville, Ontario apartment building called the police when they heard someone repeatedly calling for help. The police arrived, heard the cries also, and soon located the apartment where they were coming from. They forcibly opened the door, looked inside, and saw a parrot loudly repeating the word "help" over and over again. The parrot wasn't actually in need of assistance. [Calgary Herald]

To the untrained ear the parrot's "jungle call" can sound a lot like a cry for help. I once knew of a parrot trained to yell "I'll call the welfare!"

I had a friend with a amazonian breed parrot who had an affinity to repeat swear words she learned when he and his ex fought. She ended up being donated to a shelter who then ended up euthanizing her. Polly says 'f' you.

:shut:

That is sad BD. Birds are great mimics. Before kids, my mom and dad had a bird that used to call the dog all the time and make him crazy.

A classic is to teach your parrot to say: "Help! The witch turned me into a bird!"
