If Giant Crab was still around at the right time, I hope they jammed with Toad the Wet Sprocket.

I wonder if the song--or at least its title---was inspired by the 1957 Roger Corwin film, "Attack of the Crab Monsters"
The eponymous crabs were not only giant, but they also communicated via telepathy (one of the types of E.S.P.).

Here's the original song that they stol.... er reworked. They changed it from LSD. Even giving themselves writing credit:

Then Beaver Patrol:

The Beaver Patrol has two new writers that take credit for it. I saw it was produced by Richard Gottehrer, who produced tons of stuff you know. I wrote to him asking if he remembered the band/writers. No response but it's only been a few years.

Not to be confused with the song Beaver Patrol by the Wilde Knights:

who wrote Just Like Me later a hit for Paul Revere and the Raiders
