Ella Mae Morse is the best. Not only did she do bluesy records like this and big band crooning, but she also did some country music with Tennessee Ernie Ford. Check out "House of Blue Lights" with Freddie Slack, where she calls him "homie" (in 1945!). She made the transition into rock and roll with songs like "Razzle Dazzle."
