possum custody

And one more subtle sign that Chuck's maybe been doing this work for too long
New Zealand Press Association released this story, citing Hamilton, N.Z., police spokesman Andy Bear: A woman was arrested after she broke through the door of her ex-boyfriend's home, then kicked him, in a dispute over custody . . of their pet possum. NZPA via Stuff.co.nz

However...you mess with my cats and I swear to you there will be nothing recognizable left for anyone to identify

Jules - exactly how many cats are we talking about here? Do we need to be worried about reading YOUR story on WU? 😉

Actually, NZ possums are quite cute (they don't even resemble US possums).

Time out you red neck basher(s). The critter in question here is a "possum" not an opossum.

I've got not idea what these southern possums are like but our N.American variety make louse pets and worse suppers!

Ok, Expat, care to explain how you know that a possum makes a lousy supper?
Posted by KW in Dallas, TX on 10/09/08 at 11:26 AM
KW - only 2 my friend, but they are my kids!
Posted by Jules in Connecticut on 10/09/08 at 11:45 AM
Jules - *whew* Ok, 2 is acceptable. 200... not so much. I have a kitty and a horse-of-a-dog so I understand. 😊

I would have a dog if I was home enough. For now I suffice with borrowing my friends dog every Saturday. He is known as my nephew by the way 😊

KW, every year the gang down at Twin Oaks Boat Club on the mighty Mississippi river had a coon and 'possum hunt. The next night was the cook out. Coon I can take if forced but 'possum just ain't'a'gonna happen. No surree Bob!

I can't eat anything that still has a face attached to it. Just can't do it **shudder**
Posted by Jules in Connecticut on 10/09/08 at 12:03 PM
No problem, Jules, A good swnig of the cleaver and the face is gone!
Posted by kingmonkey in Athens, Ontario on 10/09/08 at 12:19 PM
Jules - I never had that problem... how do you think I won over the hubby? LOL
Posted by KW in Dallas, TX on 10/09/08 at 12:21 PM
Big Gary - are we referring to the pets or the not eating anything that didn't come from the grocery store?
Apparently I'm failing to see the obvious joke...seems to happening a lot today
Posted by Jules in Connecticut on 10/09/08 at 12:21 PM
oh THAT! I wouldn't refer to that as eating since there's no chewing involved

I have some coonass relatives who consider roadkill as a gift from heaven. Possum, coons or even nutria...it doesn't matter they like them all in a stew. Cajuns...geesh!

A little slow on the uptake Jules.
Posted by Madd Maxx on 10/09/08 at 12:26 PM
What is nutria?
Posted by Jules in Connecticut on 10/09/08 at 12:26 PM
Its kinda like a big rat. Another invasive species to our area that is being blame for coastal erosion. I think you can get paid to shoot em.

Jules - It's kind of like a big rat. They are NASTY. I saw a bunch when we went (drunk) canoeing down the Llano River.

You people have animals down there we've never even heard of up here!
And yes I am painfully slow today. I blame it on the fact that my boss has the day off so I decided to leave my brain in sleep mode.
