I like the female band in the movie Cabaret. Recall that the Master of Ceremonies tells us "Each and every one is a virgin."

There were quite a few all female big bands during World War II. Viola Smith, who was a drummer in one or more of them, recently died at 107. Here's a video of Frances Carroll and Her Coquettes featuring Viola Smith. Frances Carroll puts on quite a show, though it's not clear if she's actually leading the band.
