VW Woody

Usually when a car is refered to as a 'woody' it's because the vehicle has faux wood side panels. This VW bug is totally covered in real wood. Check out the video at the link. Very Cool!

Great car!

Here's a really well laid out gallery of the American woodies. http://www.oldwoodies.com/gallery-autowoodies.htm

what a great site expat! i have always liked the look of the vehicles with the 'walpaper' wood side panels. mom had one when i was a kid, a station wagon, i don't recall the make or model. my sister had a chrysler mini van with the faux wood sides about 10 years ago too. thanks for the link sweetie! 😊

Ah... Patty, back in the day the wood was real! The "wallpaper" came in the 60's (IIRC) on some station wagons. I barely remember some member of the family having one of the 40-something woody station wagon.

that is neat expat, do you remember riding in it? we have the classic car museum here in canton with some beautiful old cars. but i have never ridden in anything older than late '60s as far as i can remember.

My 1st car was a 1939 Plymouth. The oldest I've been in was a Ford Model T.

It might be functional, but I bet it handles like nothing else! Good news: no rust! And if you've got enough cash to do this, why not buy a new car?

a lot of people go to great expense to restore classic cars scot. just not usually with wood parts!
