Welcome to 2024, the year of ‘A Boy and his Dog’

We've now got AI, but still no telepathic dogs.

Based on the poster below, I think the French version of the movie was titled, "Apocalypse 2024". Hope that's not prophetic.

Original short story by Harlan Ellison.

In my not so humble opinion, this is one of the greatest SF movies ever. Everyone said the novella couldn't be filmed, but it turned out to keep closer to the original story than most movies.

I had read the novella (Ellison is one of my favorite authors), so when I saw it in the theater, I sort of knew what to expect. The rest of the audience didn't. When the credits began rolling, no one made a sound. Then, slowly, as people began to realize what had happened, they began to clap!

Interesting that the U.S. ad has a scantily clad woman and emphasizes that it's rated R, while the French one has a totally different emphasis.

Pretentious comes to mind

@F.U.D. then you haven't read the novella. It's anything but pretentious.
