Apperently not till the bill is paid, even in an emergency. A 62 year old Caroll County, Ohio man was missing after leaving home upset and with several bottles of pills. During the overnight search involving the State Highway Patrol, Carroll County Sheriff Department, 2 k-9 units, several area fire departments and 100 volunteers Verizon Wireless was asked to turn on his phone to help locate him. The operator refused to do so until the Sheriff agreed to pay $20 of the man's past due bill. The man was found by searchers just before payment arrangements were made. i was glad they found him before the sheriffs department paid the $20. i kinda thought it was extortion.
