While this machine scares the living daylight out of humans, the rats already figured out a way to munch on the power cord and stop it.

Makes me wonder how many were sold for the novelty factor alone. You just know that while that thing was sparking and yowling on the table, the rats were sitting in the corner, having a smoke and laughing.

As far as I can tell, there was no newspaper named the New York Dispatch in 1963.
