Mom did this as a hobby during the mid '60's. I wasn't sure what they would call them, but I do remember how they were made and the results when there was a failure was spectacular. And as a little kid trying to pick them apart afterwards. That wasn't too successful.

I see vendors selling fried marble jewelry at craft fairs pretty regularly.

DIY. https://www.beadinggem.com/2009/08/how-to-fry-marbles-and-make-crackle.html The marbles aren't actually fried in oil but baked in a really hot oven and then rapidly cooled in iced water. Some marbles will break apart but you can glue bead caps with wire loops on the survivors to make pendants.
