Pygmy Hedgehogs

The newest popular little pet in Great Britain is the pygmy hedgehog. No kidding, full grown they only weigh between 12 and 18 ounces and are 5 to 8 inches long. Being bred in captivity, they are friendly and loving little creatures who will fit into the palm of your hand. They can be litter trained and will eat cat or ferret food according to Ashleigh Hunt, an animal lover, who has 24 of the little cuties. The cost is a little steep at 200 pounds or about $320 U.S. but papered puppies are that much and often more by comparison. Pretty neat little animals and they don't even shed.

they are sooo cute! if you look at the second pic in the article, sitting on the table in front of the girl, they remind me of the tribbles from star trek. i don't think they make a trilling sound or reproduce by being fed though. 😉

that is so cool rk! i have had teddy bear hampsters in the past and they are sweet tempered little things, but these hedgehogs are on a whole different level than that by the sound of it. really neat.

Hedgehogs are a food source! Why in the name of common sense would you want to breed smaller versions❓

Fire comes in handy and, just a suggestion, if you don't skinem' first you've got built in toothpicks.

Well I love animals of all kinds...but I just don't find these little guys all that cute. Plus I think if I had one, my cats would eat him for breakfast. UGH, think I just made myself sick! 😖

i bet that was a lot of fun to watch. even better than getting your cat to chase the light from a laser pointer.
