(1) Latest bright idea from Rev. Fred Phelps and the lesser Phelpses: They want to be part of the Nativity scene at the capitol in Olympia, Wash., with this ditty: *You'd better watch out, Get ready to cry, You'd better go hide, I'm tellin' you why, 'Cuz Santa Claus will take you . . to hell . . ..* (And the problems with the economy? Santa caused 'em.) (2) When this guy first appeared in News of the Weird [NOTW M047, 3-2-2008], it was for sympathy: an already-convicted sex offender who was falsely accused of kidnaping. But today he still has that 1994 sex conviction hanging over him, which means that there are certain places he cannot live, like near schools. This week, a committee of the city council of Sheboygan, Wis., approved his application to live in town, so he's OK . . Mr. Pheuk Kue can have another chance. The Olympian /// Sheboygan Press

The Pelpseses are just one compound-standoff away from Judgement Day, I think. I hope they self-destruct soon.

Good ol' Rev. Fred Phelps, still acting the way I've come to expect all TV beggers act...like a self-righteous ass. Operating through fear...that's the christian way. These dickweeds see <strike>Satan</strike> Santa as an image that takes away from christmas but they fail to realize that christmas didn't always have anything to do with christianity. It was a celebration of the winter equinox. The sun appeared to die for 3 days (actually its path in the sky lowers closer to the horizon) and then was reborn on the 25th. The church stole the winter celebration because they couldn't get the heathens to stop celebrating it.

I'm not sure if Phelps does this but my family's church puts on a Hell House every year for Halloween. In it they try to scare the hell (pun intended) out of you by showing you what Hell will be like. Most people show up thinking it's a haunted house but then they get lambasted by holy-rollers who aren't really concerned with they eternal well-being but really just want their tithe.

Big Gary - Don't forget that christmas is also all about getting drunk and embarrassing your family.

She wants to offer blessings on all people? Spreading good will and wishing for hope? It's a good thing she's already locked up; what a looney! I won't tolerate no behaviour like that!
