The Odon Device

Jorge Odon was an Argentinian car mechanic who, one day, watched a video on YouTube that showed a trick for removing a cork that's stuck inside a wine bottle. Even though he had no medical training at all, the video inspired him to create a device to help deliver babies who are stuck inside the birth canal. And apparently the device (he's called it the Odon Device) actually works — enough so that an American medical technology firm has agreed to manufacture it. [Yahoo!]

I can't seem to remember the last brilliant idea I had while watching YouTube videos.

For the wine bottle trick, this should work:
- Dip a small firecracker's bottom (very small) in syrup, light the fuse and drop it into the bottle. The syrup makes the firecracker stick to the bottom of the bottle.
- Invert the bottle so the cork is in the neck. The explosion will blow out the cork.

I have though of a few more ways, BUT I just want to see if WUians think alike, fools never differ.

Using a centrifuge would get the baby out; BUT. ! 😊 !

We used a rope to pull the calves out of cows when things went on too long. I do like the centrifuge idea, though.

Typical guy attitude, when all else fails, blow it up!
The cork trick is cool but I don't see it working for a baby.

So, this system will eliminate the need to jump up & down on "Mom's" stomach?

@KDP: Been there! & it just HAD to be a Swiss!

@Patty: If it works, don't knock it.

Happy Turkey Day, y'all!

One trick I've heard of involves blowing air into the bottle. Doesn't sound as if it would be too pleasant for the mother, either.

@ expat~ I expected you to explain how to get $2o million from the government grants to get the cork out and $40 million to explain the the NEED for this .

Sorry, BMN, I can't do that much dumb when I'm on vacation. Can you wait till I get back home?

The applications are endless.

I'm liking the centrifuge idea. Give mom enough demerol and dramamine and she should be fine.
